The Open University is inviting applications for full-time PhD studentships commencing 1 October 2016; the closing date for applications is *22 April*. A number of studentships will be available for exceptional UK, EU, and overseas applicants for full-time 3-year research projects. The NLP group at the Open University would be interested in hearing from candidates wishing to pursue research in any of the following areas:
– computational semantics and pragmatics (including dialogue modelling and ambiguity),
– natural language generation,
– information extraction,
– NLP applied to educational technology,
– NLP applied to software engineering.

These are full-time three-year studentships and you would be required to live in the UK and within commuting distance of the centrally-located Milton Keynes Open University campus (40 minutes from London Euston). You will be allocated office space and computer facilities in the department and receive funding for research expenses, training and conference participation.
