Fully funded PhD and MSc positions (scholarship / stipend) in NLP and Computational Linguistics are available at the Natural Language Processing Laboratory, Instituto Politécnico Nacional, Mexico City. The amount of scholarship is sufficient for renting a decent accommodation and normal living in Mexico City.

The scholarship is not a loan (no obligations upon graduation) and does not require any service such as teaching assistance. PhD scholarship duration is 4 years, though the degree can be obtained in 2 years should the student fulfills all the requirements. MSc scholarship duration is 2 years, usually extendible to 2.5 years. Upon obtaining MSc degree, the students are encouraged to continue to the PhD program, which amounts to up to 6.5 years of fully funded research. MSc program is research-oriented, publishing research papers is encouraged.

Teaching is in English or Spanish, or a combination of the two, by selection of the student. Knowledge of Spanish is not required. Advisor can be external (with a local co-advisor); the student can choose any advisor in the world or can continue working remotely with his/her current team/advisor. Ideal for students that have a good advisor but need a scholarship for full-time research, or for professors who want to retain a good student who needs scholarship.

Possibility of research stays abroad is expected, with about 50% increase of scholarship for the time of stay.
